Dairy Free Alternatives
Milk!
Lets talk Milk. As you all may know there is an enormous array of dairy milk alternatives readily available in supermarkets. This can be pretty daunting for someone who has no idea what one to choose. So, I am here to help!
Almond Milk
I would always opt for the unsweetened carton, as its good to reduce artificial sugars as they can often lead to an increased craving for other foods containing sweeteners/sugar.
I particularly like this milk in a cappuccino, but to be honest it is not my favourite as i find it has quite a strong nutty taste & can often curdle in my coffee.
My favourite is the Almond Breeze brand & I manage to locate this in most supermarkets.
Coconut Milk
This is by far my favourite, however it does definitely have a strong coconutty taste, but being a lover of bountys this is why it is so appealing to me!But if you are not a massive fan of coconut, I would probably recommend oat milk which has a very similar texture.
My go to coffee order is a coconut milk latte with one pump of sugar free caramel syrup!
Soya Chocolate milk
Yogurt
The same shown above has recently launched the most amazing, creamy yogurt alternative.
Over the years I have tried a few dairy free yogurts, but to be honest none of them have fulfilled my need for greek yogurt & berries. That was until I tasted Koko Dairy free yogurt. This yogurt is so thick and creamy does have a relativity coconutty taste.This particiular product can be difficult to find, but Asda seem to stock it reguarly. I do like the plain and strawberry however my absolute favourite is the Peach & Passionfruit! Served With a handful of granola and fresh raspberries!!!
Chocolate
Ombar is by far the best milk chocolate alternative i have discovered, however it is impossible to find in stores & is also pretty expensive (I often bulk buy on Amazon.com).
Desserts
A small pot of indulgent, creamy chocolate & only 100 calories??
These are by far the best product I have found this year, I could eat them everyday for the rest of my life!
You would never know it was dairy free, or even 'healthy'.
If you take anything away from this blog post, please please please try these! However, I have only found them in Sainsburys & Holland and Barrett; so slightly harder to find!
On the other hand, another dessert that is now in basically every supermarket is dairy free ice cream. My three favourites are sea salt Caramel by Halo Top (make sure it says dairy free, as they have both), Alpro Chocolate Hazelnut & Almond Dream Salted caramel.
